As of September 2023, the Indoor Classifications have been aligned with the Outdoor system, with only the Elite Master Bowmen class being excluded from the Indoor classifications.
This means that there are now a total of 8 levels of Indoor Classifications, starting at Indoor Archer 3rd Class and finishing with Indoor Grand Master Bowman.
The Indoor Classifications also copy the Outdoor system by using any combination of rounds that meet the minimum number of arrows for each level: Archer tier classifications require 120 arrows (i.e. 2 x Portsmouth rounds) and target scores start as low as 62 out of a possible 600 for a junior Archer Third Class.
There are far fewer indoor rounds to choose from however; The qualifying scores for all ages and bow styles are in the tables below and further information can be found on the Archery GB Indoor Classifications site.
All indoor rounds are at 30m or less and now recognise both Adult 50+ and Junior age groups, in addition to Men & Women.
Although they are classed as indoor rounds, all can be shot indoors or outdoors to suit yourself.
Our indoor range is shorter than 20yds, therefore we shoot the Howard Indoor Round, this consists of 5 dozen arrows at a 40cm face, for classifications this counts the same as a Portsmouth. The other indoor rounds can be shot outdoors, or at any venue that offers the necessary distances.
