Beginner Courses

We aim to run a beginner's course most months throughout the year, with a maximum number of 12 participants per course.  Please see our Events page for details on the current proposed course dates.

The course is Archery GB approved and successful completion allows participants to join The Howard Bowmen, or any other Archery GB affiliated club (subject to local rules).

• Courses are run over a single Saturday. 
• All equipment and coaching is provided, as are refreshments, but a packed lunch is recommended.
• All our coaches are Archery GB qualified and they are supported by senior archers from the club. 
• The cost of the course is £90 per person. 

The course places a strong emphasis on archery safety and by the end of the day you'll have learned the fundamental techniques for shooting an Olympic-style recurve bow safely and independently alongside others. 

The minimum age that we accept is 9 years at the start of the course (there is no maximum limit) and children must be accompanied by an adult.

This is just the start of the journey though! If you join Howard Bowmen further coaching is available, free of charge.
