The Howard Bowmen

Releasing your first arrow and watching it fly toward the target is a truly wonderful experience. 

At The Howard Bowmen you will find a friendly, supportive group of archers and coaches, happy to help you discover archery and all the benefits it offers.

We have a combination of members who shoot competitively and some just for their enjoyment as a relaxing hobby. Members shoot different bow styles (recurve, compound, longbow, Asiatic, barebow) so can advise and help with most situations. We run archery and social club events throughout the year.

Archery brings a host of health benefits, both physical and mental. Better still, you don’t need to be particularly athletic or even active to get started.

We are unique in the area as we have outdoor 10-100 yards and indoor 15 yards ranges with targets left out so no set up time. We are open 24/7 in theory, subject to a field captain being available, and the club is generally open most days at some time. We use WhatsApp to communicate between members and to arrange opening times. The main club time when we have coaches is Tue 6pm-7:30/8pm. Other club times are Thu 6pm-7:30/8pm and Sun 1pm-3pm, coaches are often at these.

We have members as young as 9 years old, and some…well there really isn’t an upper age limit! And they’re all happy to share their experience as you travel along your archery journey.
