Beginners Courses

We are planning on running one beginner's course a month, with a maximum number of 12 participants per course.  Please see our Events page for details on the current proposed course dates.

The course is Archery GB approved and successful completion of the course allows participants to join the Howard Bowmen Archery Club, or any other Archery GB affiliated club (subject to local rules).

• Courses are run over a single Saturday. 
• All equipment and coaching is provided, as are refreshments, but a packed lunch is recommended.
•  All our coaches are Archery GB qualified and they are supported by senior archers from the club. 
• The cost of the course is £90 per person. 

During the course you will learn how to shoot an olympic style recurve bow safely, as well as other details of the sport. There is a strong emphasis on learning the safety aspects of archery, as well as the techniques of shooting. By the end of the course you are usually able to shoot independently with others, in a safe manner.

This is just the start of the journey though! If you join Howard Bowmen further coaching is available, free of charge.
